You do not want to get rich in order to live like a pig, to satisfy animal desires. That is not life. But the performance of every body function is a part of life. No one is completely living if they deny their body the normal and healthful expression of its urges.

You do not want to get rich only to enjoy the pleasures of the mind, to gain knowledge, to satisfy ambition, to outperform others, to be famous. These are all an acceptable part of life, but the man who only lives for the pleasures of the mind will have an incomplete life;he will never be satisfied with his lot.

You do not want to get rich only to benefit others, to give yourself up to save mankind, to experience the joys of charity and sacrifice. The pleasures of the soul are only a part of life, and they are no better or more honorable than any other part.
